INDIANAPOLIS - The Butler men's soccer team advanced to the semifinal round of the BIG EAST Tournament with a 3-0 shutout win over Providence. The No. 4 seed Bulldogs (10-5-3) scored twice in the first half and added the final goal midway through the second period. The No. 5 seed Friars (5-5-7) produced 12 shots, four on frame, but were unable to adequately solve the defensive play of Butler's back line and its goalkeeper,
Gabriel Gjergji.

With the win, Butler advances to the semifinal round and will face No. 1 seed (No. 24) Georgetown on Thursday, Nov. 10, in Boyds, Md. The Hoyas defeated the Bulldogs, 3-2, in a regular-season match in Indianapolis on Oct. 5.
