The 2013 Butler Golf Classic, presented by AAA Hoosier Motor Club, was greeted with blue skies and 80-degree weather on Monday, June 10 at the Pebble Brook Golf Club in Noblesville. 268 players, in 68 groups, took to the 36-hole course in what has become one of the largest single-day fundraisers for Butler Athletics each year. Funds raised for the event go directly to the Bulldog Club and supporting Butler’s 365 student-athletes and 19 NCAA Division I teams.
In addition, a mix of 55 individuals and companies sponsored the event, including Eldon Palmer (Pebble Brook Golf Club), AAA Hoosier Motor Club (Presenting) and the SkyNet Aviation Group ($10,000 Hole-in-One Contests).
Butler University President Jim Danko and Vice President and Director of Athletics Barry Collier shared a few remarks with the crowd and thanked all participants and sponsors for their support of Butler University and Butler Athletics. After the round, head coaches Jeff Voris (football) and Brad Stevens (men’s basketball) spoke to those in attendance about their upcoming seasons.
"The Butler Golf Classic has become a date Bulldog fans circle on their calendars each year,” said Associate Athletic Director Mike Freeman. “The enthusiasm from the participants, our sponsors and volunteers is what makes this event so successful.”
