Ryan Pedon enters his third season on the Butler staff after arriving in Indianapolis in April, 2015.
In his second season on the Butler sidelines, the team posted a 25-9 record, a second-place finish in the BIG EAST, and advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2011. The BIG EAST finish was Butler's best since joining the conference prior to the 2013-14 season.
Pedon, while playing a role in all facets of the program, is highly-involved in recruiting and the team's offense. Butler's recruiting class that will arrive on campus in advance of the 2017-18 season is the highest-ranked class in program history.
Pedon made an immediate impact on the Butler program in his first season, helping the 2015-16 team to a 22-11 record while advancing to the second round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs also signed a nationally-ranked recruiting class in November of 2015, one that was ranked in the Top 25 by several national recruiting outlets on Signing Day.
Prior to arriving at Butler, Pedon spent two seasons on the staff at Illinois under Head Coach (and former Butler assistant) John Groce.
During Pedon's three seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Toledo, the Rockets made an incredible jump from four wins in 2010-11 to 19 wins, including the school's first postseason victory in 11 years, in 2011-12. That turnaround was the second best in the nation! In his final season at Toledo, the Rockets tied for first in the MAC's West Division, securing the school's first division title and most conference wins since 2007.
Pedon experienced similar success at Miami, Ohio, where he helped the RedHawks to winning conference records in all five seasons in Oxford. The RedHawks won the MAC Tournament title in 2007 and earned the school's first NCAA Tournament bid since 1999. And during his time at Kent State, the Golden Flashes recorded three 20-win seasons and finished first in the MAC's East Division in both 2003 and 2004.
A native of Columbus, Ohio, Pedon played college basketball at Wooster (Ohio). He was a three-year varsity letterwinner and helped the Fighting Scots to three regular season North Coast Athletic Conference championships and three NCAA Division III Tournament bids.
He earned a bachelor's degree in communications from Wooster in 2000 and a master's degree in sport organization from Miami, Ohio, in 2002.
He and his wife, Stephanie, have a son, Maddox.
