Butler Places Eight On Academic All-League Squads
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Eight Butler student-athletes, including
three men’s basketball players, have been named to the
2010-11 Horizon League Winter Academic All-League Teams, announced
by the league office on Tuesday, April 19. The honored
athletes were chosen by a vote of league faculty athletic
representatives and sports information directors.
Butler had three of the five athletes chosen to the Men’s
Basketball Academic All-League squad. Headlining that group
was senior forward and Academic All-American of the Year Matt
Howard, who was named to the league honor squad for the third
consecutive year. Senior Zach Hahn also earned Academic
All-League recognition for the third straight year, while junior
Ronald Nored was chosen for the first time.
The other two men’s basketball players selected were Tony
Meier of Milwaukee and Ben Averkamp of Loyola.
Butler also had three athletes selected to the Men’s Indoor
Track and Field Academic All-League Team and two chosen to the
Women’s Indoor Track and Field honor squad. Named to
the men’s team were seniors Matt Lawder and Justin Roeder and
graduate student Kris Gauson. Lawder and Gauson both were
repeat selections.
Sophomores Katie Clark and Kaitlyn Love each earned selection to
the Women’s Indoor Track Academic All-League Team for the
first time.
The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal
Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship
sports. To be eligible for Academic All-Horizon League
consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point
average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale) and have
completed at least one year and earned 24 semester hours or 36
quarter hours at the member institution.
