Julie Wooten, who earned All-America Scholar-Athlete honors as a softball player at IUPUI, has been named assistant athletic director for compliance/academic affairs at Butler University. She's taking the Butler position formerly held by Kristie Smedsrud, who resigned her post earlier this month.
Wooten was a four-year member of the softball team at IUPUI, 1999-2002. She was a two-year Academic All-Conference pick, and she served as a team co-captain as a senior. In her junior season, she was named an All-America Scholar-Athlete by the National Fastpitch Coaches' Association. She further served as vice-president of IUPUI's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and she was honored as an IUPUI Outstanding Female Leader in both 2001 and 2002.
Since January of this year, Wooten has served an internship with the Indiana Sports Corporation. She also served as an intern with the United States Tennis Association in 2001.
Wooten earned her B. S. degree in marketing from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business.
