*Senior Michael Mariscalco was named first team on the 2002 Verizon Academic All-America University Division Men's Soccer Team. Mariscalco, a biology/pre-med major who finished as the Bulldogs' fourth all-time leading scorer, is Butler's first men's soccer Academic All-American.

*Senior Keely Norris was named to the 12-player All-Horizon League volleyball team, selected by league coaches. Butler freshman Megan Knightly was picked to the Horizon League All-Newcomer squad.

*Senior running back Dale Jennings, who led the Pioneer Football League in scoring in 2002, was one of six Butler players named first team on the All-PFL squad selected by conference coaches. Joining Jennings as first team all-conference performers from Butler were senior offensive lineman Carl Erickson, senior defensive lineman Tim Lytle, junior linebacker Parker Smith, senior defensive back Russ Mann and sophomore return specialist Justin Campbell.

*Junior guard Nancy Bowden posted 12 points and a career-high 12 assists in Butler's women's basketball opener against Bradley. The 12 assists tied the fifth-highest single game total in Butler women's basketball history.

*Senior Lewis Curry, getting his first collegiate start, scored 13 points in 16 minutes to help Butler's men's basketball team open the season with a 69-53 victory at IPFW. Curry, a fifth-year senior, was playing in his hometown of Fort Wayne for the first time since his graduation from Concordia Lutheran High School in 1998.
