Class of 1949: After earning varsity letters in basketball playing in Spencer, Ind., John Barrowcliff led the Bulldogs to wins from 1941 to 1949. Known to his classmates as "Big Jawn," he was a three-year starting center, helping Butler achieve a combined 48-19 record and the first Mid-America Conference title. John also helped Butler post championships in the heralded "Hoosier Classic" in 1947 and 1948. After leaving the University, he played basketball for Goodyear Tire and Rubber in the National Industrial League.
