William O. Hardy
Class of 1943: After receiving Butler letters in basketball and baseball, Bill signed a contract with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1942 and played with a Dodgers' minor league team that summer. He entered military service in 1943, but returned to playing baseball with a team in the Brooklyn farm system after the war. He returned to Indianapolis in 1946 to work and later served as president of Emroe Sporting Goods Co. Bill played semi-pro basbeall with Fort Wayne, winning three national championships in the '40s.
