Dan played halfback and defensive back in football, as well as playing basketball, for the Bulldogs following a stellar high school career in each sport. A Butler M.V.P. in football in 1970, Dan was also named Conference Back of the Year after setting a new rushing record and winning the scoring title. He was only the fifth player in Indiana Collegiate Conference history to score 4 touchdowns in one game. Following graduation, Dan was a high school coach 25 years in Fort Wayne.
