Bulldogs Visit Dayton For First Place Showdown
For the first time since the Pioneer Football League was founded in 1993, Butler and Dayton will meet in a November game that has championship implications for both teams. The two squads, currently sharing first place in the PFL with Drake, will meet at Dayton’s Welcome Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 1 p.m. (ET).

Bulldogs Pull Out Victory At UIC
Freshman Julian Cardona scored the lone goal of the match with less than 14 minutes remaining to lift Butler to a 1-0 victory over host UIC in a key Horizon League match at Flames Field in Chicago, Ill., on Wednesday (Nov. 4). The victory moved the Bulldogs one step closer to clinching their first league regular season title since 2004.

Butler To Host Hitting Facility Open House
The Butler Athletic Department will officially unveil its new baseball/softball/golf hitting facility with an “Open House” on Thursday, Nov. 19. The facility will be open to the public from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Bulldogs Close Regular Season With Two Key Matches
Butler, coming off a loss for the first time in more than a month, controls its own destiny heading into the final week of Horizon League regular season play. The Bulldogs (11-2-1, 4-1-1 Horizon League) will visit UIC on Wednesday, Nov. 4, for a 7 p.m. (CT, 8 p.m. in Indianapolis) match and then return home to host Wright State in the final regular season match on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 3 p.m. (ET).

Butler Hosts Chicago Schools This Weekend
Butler continues its chase for the top of the Horizon League standings this weekend, hosting the two Chicago schools at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Loyola comes to BU Friday at 7 p.m. and the Bulldogs host UIC Saturday at 7 p.m. The Dogs are one match behind Valpo for 2nd place in the league standings.

BU Successful In Home Quad Meet
Butler swimming hosted a quadrangular meet this weekend, welcoming IUPUI, Xavier and Evansville to the pool at Fishers High School. A host of Bulldog swimmers had solid performances, as a number of different swimmers led the team in each stroke.

Butler Opens Season With 1-0 Loss At Western Kentucky
Western Kentucky’s Megan Meinke scored in the 45th minute to give the Butler women’s soccer team a 1-0 loss in its season opener Friday afternoon. Meinke’s game-winning goal, a strike from the left side just outside the box, came at 44:35.

Horizon League Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) visits Riley Children’s Hospital
Fourteen members of the Horizon League’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee visited Riley Children’s Hospital on Friday, July 31. The community outreach opportunity included guest speakers, a video session and tour of the hospital.

Butler's Hayward creates buzz at 19-and-under national team trials
Butler's Gordon Hayward, who was selected for USA Basketball's 19-and-under national team Thursday, was first featured in the sporting press four years ago. A story in a regional section of the Indianapolis Star profiled Gordon and his twin sister, Heather, who were playing mixed doubles in the Indiana State Open. They were precocious prep tennis stars. She had already played No. 1 singles as a freshman at Brownsburg High; he played No. 1 doubles then, and No. 1 singles the next year. The paper said the twins planned on going to Purdue, their parents' alma mater.

Former Butler men's soccer players are invited back to campus to enjoy a weekend of Homecoming activities, including an Alumni Game on Saturday, Oct. 25. The match between two teams of Butler alums will be held at Varsity Field, beginning at 10 a.m.

Softball, Soccer Players Spark Kids' Interest in Books
It might have looked like a huddle, but reading a story and having fun was the game plan, when outfielder Jenny Jacobs of Indianapolis gathered her "team" of youngsters around her during the Jan. 12 Readers' Day in Hinkle Fieldhouse. A senior member of Butler's softball team, Jacobs read the children's book Click, Clack Moo during a family literacy fair, staged before the Butler men's basketball game against Milwaukee.
