The Bulldogs' Tuesday performance at the Dayton Flyer Invitational was the top team score of the day, vaulting Butler from 14
th entering the day to fourth in the final standings.
As a team, Butler shot 311 (+27) in the opening round at the NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio. The Bulldogs rebounded Tuesday on the par-71, 7,100-yard South Course, shooting an 11-over 295. That was one shot better on the day than Michigan, which won the event.
Only six of the 18 teams had better rounds Tuesday than they did in Monday's opening round.
Butler's team score of 606 trailed only Michigan (580), host Dayton (588) and Oakland (604). Three teams tied for fifth at 608.
Sophomore
Gehrig Hollatz had Butler's best round Tuesday, carding a one-over 72. He finished in a tie for 21
st after shooting a 79 Monday.
Zack Carrabine, playing as an individual, was the top finisher for Butler, following Monday's 76 with a two-over 73 Tuesday.
Pat Allgeier tied for 16
th overall with a two-round score of 150. He shot 73 Tuesday on the heels of a 77 Monday.
Joey Arcuri followed his opening-round 77 with a Tuesday 75. His score of 152 was tied for 29
th.
Hunter Byram and
Michael Denner finished in a tie for 42
nd at 154. All six Bulldogs shot 76 or better on Tuesday.
Michigan's Ian Kim and Nick Carlson tied for first place. Kim won the one-hole playoff with a birdie.
The Invitational concludes fall competition for the Bulldogs, who will return to action in February at the William & Mary Invitational in Savannah, Ga.
