In the highly-competitive Great Lakes Region, Butler's men's and women's cross country teams each posted eighth-place finishes in the NCAA Regional Friday afternoon in Verona, Wis., at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course.

Senior
Katherine Turner paced the Butler women, finishing sixth overall in a time of 20:05.5. Erin Finn of Michigan won the women's event with a time of 19:27.8.

Euan Makepeace was the top finisher for Butler's men, covering the 8k course in 30:29.7 to finish ninth overall. Wisconsin's Malachy Schrobilgen won the race with a time of 30:21.7.
Turner has qualified for the NCAA Championships Nov. 19 in Terre Haute, Ind. Makepeace will learn his NCAA Championships fate once the full field is announced.Â

Freshman
Josephine Thestrup was the second Butler woman to cross the finish line at 20:53 for a 34
th-place finish. Maddie Westerhoff (36
th, 20:55.2) and
Olivia Anderson (52
nd, 21:19.5) were close behind. Senior
Colleen Weatherford was the fifth finisher at 22:19.3, coming in 111
th.

th, 23:16.3) rounded out Butler's seven competitors.

Michigan won the women's event with a team score of 61. They were followed by Notre Dame (91), Wisconsin (97), Michigan State (97), Eastern Michigan (102), Ohio State (193), Purdue (232), and Butler (239). The Bulldogs were eighth among the 32-team field.

Wisconsin won the men's event with a team score of 51. The host Badgers were followed by Michigan State (81), Indiana (81), Eastern Michigan (99), Michigan (107), Purdue (172), and Ohio State (227). Butler finished eighth in the 29-team field with a team score of 279.
