NEW YORK- The BIG EAST office released the 2016-17 women's basketball conference schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 20. Butler will be tested early by playing five of their first seven conference games on the road. Fans will be able to watch BU play on national television twice this season with the rest of the conference schedule set to stream live on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
 
"The BIG EAST has been recognized as a premier women's basketball conference and this year will be no different," Head Coach Kurt Godlevske stated. "There are going to be some exciting matchups and challenges, but we are preparing and will be ready!"
 
Conference play will begin on Wednesday, Dec. 28 this year in Omaha, Neb. when the 'Dawgs face the Creighton Bluejays at 7 p.m. Two days later, Butler will head east to take on Providence for a 12 p.m. tip-off.
 
Bulldog fans will be able to attend the BIG EAST home opener on Monday, Jan. 2 when Butler hosts Seton Hall at 6:30 PM. The contest will air live on FS1. Three days later BU returns to action at Hinkle Fieldhouse, hosting the St. John's Red Storm at 7 p.m.
 
Butler will begin a three-game road trip over the weekend when they head to Cincinnati to face Xavier on Jan. 8. The next two away games are slated at DePaul and Marquette on Jan. 13 and 15. The game against the Golden Eagles will be the second televised game of the season for BU, airing live on FS1 at 1 p.m.
 
Home contests against Villanova and Georgetown will complete the first half of conference play. The game against the Wildcats will be played on Jan. 20 with the Hoyas to follow on Jan. 22.
 
Butler will end the month of January on the East Coast as the team heads to Carnesecca Arena to face the St. Johns Red Storm on Jan. 27 and then travels to New Jersey to face Seton Hall two days later at Walsh Gym. 
 
BU opens the month of February by hosting three-straight conference games beginning with Xavier on Feb. 4. Butler continues their home stand against conference foes Marquette and DePaul on Feb. 10 and Feb. 12.
 
Butler will then take their final road trip of the season to face Georgetown on Feb. 17 and Villanova Feb. 19 before returning to Indianapolis to complete the regular season. The final home weekend for the Bulldogs features Providence visiting Hinkle on Feb. 24 followed by the Bluejays on Sunday, Feb. 26. 
 
The BIG EAST Tournament will run from March 4-7 in Milwaukee, Wis. at the Al McGuire Center on the campus of Marquette University.  For the fourth consecutive year, FS1 and FS2 will provide coverage of the BIG EAST Women's Basketball Tournament.
 
FS2 will air the quarterfinal round on March 5, with games set for 1, 3:30, 7 and 9:30 p.m. (ET). FS1 picks up the remainder of the tournament, with the semifinals on March 6 slated for 4 and 6:30 p.m., and the championship game set to tip off at 9 p.m. on March 7. The BIG EAST Digital Network will live stream both first round games on March 4, with tip times not yet determined.
 
Butler returns three starters from last year's team that recorded the program's first-ever BIG EAST Tournament win. Sydney Buck, Brittany Ward, Tori Schickel and Alexa Bailey highlight the returning core for the Bulldogs.
