NEW YORK – Redshirt-senior
Eric Dick has been named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week for the third time this season, an announcement made by the conference office on Monday, Oct. 2. Dick posted his fourth shutout of the season against St. John's moving his career total to 23.
Dick made four big saves to keep the Bulldogs in the game against the Red Storm. A sprawling save in the 105th minute kept St. John's off the scoreboard. Wilhelm Nilsson got free after a STJ corner kick and took a shot that was inches away from being the game-winner. Dick got his left hand on the ball to keep the sheet clean.
This is Dick's third weekly honor of the season. He picked up BIG EAST honors on Sept. 23 after a 1-0 overtime win against Providence in their second BIG EAST game of the season. His first BIG EAST award came on Aug. 28 after a 1-0 overtime shutout against UIC.
Butler is 7-2 on the season and is 3-0 in BIG EAST play with wins over Creighton, Providence, and St. John's.
The Bulldogs will be returning to play this Friday in Washington, D.C against the Georgetown Hoyas.
