Sophomore
Logan Sabins led the Bulldogs at the Homewood Hilton Airport Invitational, hosted by Florida Gulf Coast University in Estero, Fla. His two-round total of 155 (+11) was good for a tie for third in the 68-player field.
On Monday, Sabins shot a six-over 78. That came on the heels of a 77 in Sunday's first round, which had him in a tie for second after Sunday's opening round.
As a team, the Bulldogs entered the final 18 holes in a tie for second, but finished in ninth place in the 13-team field following a tough round on Monday.
Patrick Allgeier finished the two rounds at 21-over 165. He shot 83 on Monday. He tied for 32
nd overall.
Michael Cascino (78-89—167; +23),
Zack Carrabine (88-92—180; +36) and
Gehrig Hollatz (86-101—187; +43) rounded out the Butler five.
The event was shortened to 36 holes after rain cut into Sunday's scheduled two rounds. Old Corkscrew Golf Club, which was set up at 6,718 yards and par-72, hosted the event.
Butler shot a 35-over 323 Sunday and was seven strokes off the Central Florida lead. The Bulldogs shot a team score of 54-over 342 Monday.
Central Florida won the event with a two-round score of 624 (+48). UCF was followed by Keiser University, Florida Atlantic, and host Florida Gulf Coast.
Bethune-Cookman's Daniel Brennan shot a 75 Sunday and followed that up with a 76 Monday. His total of 151 (+7) won the event by three strokes over South Dakota State's Alejandro Restrepo. Sabin was among two players tied for third. Â
The event was the final fall competition for the Bulldogs. Butler's first spring event is Feb. 17 in Savannah, Ga., in a tournament hosted by William & Mary.
