NEW YORK –The final BIG EAST Weekly Awards were announced on Monday afternoon with
Paige Monaghan earning Offensive Player of the Week honors and goalkeeper
Leonie Doege picking up the Freshman of the Week award. Butler will now shift their focus to Thursday night as they prepare to host Providence in the semifinals of 2017 Women's Soccer BIG EAST Championship Tournament. Action will unfold at 7PM on BEDN.
BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Paige Monaghan, Butler, Jr., F
Monaghan scored two goals, off seven shots, including golden goal against Villanova to lock up #2 seed in BIG EAST Championship Tournament. Her first goal came off a penalty kick while the second came just 25 seconds into single overtime to lift BU to victory.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Elizabeth Wenger, Georgetown, Sr., D
The Hoyas limited Xavier to just two shots, none on goal, in a 1-0 win to clinch regular-season title and No. 1 seed in BIG EAST Championship.
BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Maddy Henry, Marquette, So., GK
Henry made five saves in 2-0 clean sheet at Seton Hall to lock up first round hosting duties in the BIG EAST Championship.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Leonie Doege, Butler, Fr., GK
Doege kept Villanova off the scoreboard in the second half and overtime as the Bulldogs scored a 2-1 win, extending their unbeaten streak to 16 matches.

Cerny scored the game-winning goal against St. John's to clinch BIG EAST Championship berth in do-or-die game.
