After posting back-to-back 20-point performances as the Bulldogs started the season 2-0, Butler's
Kelan Martin has been named the BIG EAST Player of the Week. The conference weekly honor is the first announced by the BIG EAST (Monday, Nov. 13).
Martin scored 20 points in each of his first two games and averaged 11.5 rebounds in the two games. On Sunday night, the senior forward pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds to go with his 20 points in an 85-75 win over Ivy League champion Princeton. Martin had 20 points and nine rebounds in an 82-64 victory over Kennesaw State in the season opener Friday night.
This is Martin's fifth career BIG EAST weekly honor after earning the recognition twice as a junior and twice as a sophomore.
Martin and the Bulldogs travel to Maryland Wednesday night for an 8:30 p.m. tip that is part of the annual Gavitt Tipoff Games that pairs BIG EAST and Big Ten teams. The game will air on FS1.
