Six Bulldogs have been named to the 2017 Academic All-Pioneer Football League Team. Redshirt senior running back

Chad Burdo were named to the first team.

Isaak Newhouse were named to the Second Team.
Pioneer Football League athletic directors established the Academic All-PFL squads in 1993 as a way to recognize the league's outstanding student-athletes. To be eligible for Academic All-PFL consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00 and reached their second season both athletically and academically at his current institution. The teams are voted on by the league's athletics communications directors.
Lane was the team's leading rusher in 2017. He rushed for 603 yards and seven touchdowns, while averaging 4.5 yards per carry. Lane is a Middle and Secondary Education Major.
Burdo finished the 2017 season with 22 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and recovered a fumble. His sack total tied for the team lead. Burdo majors in Finance.
Collier pulled in seven receptions for 83 yards and two touchdowns. The redshirt senior tight end studies Finance & Management/Information Systems.
Marty, a junior, threw for 2,198 yards and seven touchdowns, while completing 58.6 percent of his passes. Marty studies Finance & Marketing.Â
Cerone registered 51 tackles on the season. He broke up six passes to go along with an interception. Cerone blocked two kicks, which tied him for first in the PFL. He is a Risk Management & Insurance Major.Â
???????Newhouse was eighth in the nation and led the PFL in solo tackles per game with 6.4. Newhouse led the team in total tackles with 96 and broke up eight passes. Newhouse was also named to the All-PFL Second Team earlier this week. He majors in Accounting and Finance.
