Lilly, Logan Earn AVCA All-Region Accolades

EAST REGION

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Bri Lilly and Anna Logan earned AVCA All-East Region honors on Tuesday afternoon. Lilly was a decisive selection as a middle blocker while Logan was tabbed honorable mention as an outside hitter.

Lilly proved to be a great two-way player for the Bulldogs during the 2017 season. She ended the year with 258 kills (2.63 k/s) and a team-high 121 blocks (1.23 b/s) to score 343.5 total points. Lilly posted the highest attack percentage of any Bulldog in school history (.378) by collecting her 258 kills in just 532 swings with 57 errors. She was also credited with 85 digs, 17 service aces and 13 assists.

Top performances from Lilly during the 2017 campaign included an 18-kill performance vs. Villanova, a 10-block match vs. St. John's and a school record setting .640 attack percentage in a five-set win at Marquette. Lilly recorded 17 kills in just 25 attempts against the Golden Eagles to help BU win the match 3-2.

Lilly's defense at the net impacted matches throughout the season. She ended the year ranked 50th in the NCAA in blocks per set (1.23). As a team, Butler led the BIG EAST in total blocks (320.5), blocks per set (2.69) and opponent's hitting percentage (.174).

Lilly has been one of the best defensive players in the BIG EAST Conference since joining Butler in 2015, but her role in the BU offense changed drastically this year. Lilly recorded 59 more kills this year than in 2016 despite playing in five less matches. She also improved her kills per set to 2.63 compared to 1.86 a year ago. The junior reached a double figure kill total in 10 of Butler's final 13 matches this year all of which were against conference foes.

She helped the Bulldogs end the season with a 23-8 overall record and a trip to the BIG EAST Conference Tournament. A second player to help BU reach that level of success this year was outside hitter Anna Logan.

Logan was limited to playing in just 81 of Butler's 119 total sets this year due to injury. She still managed to record 258 kills in limited action, the fourth-highest total on the team. Final stats for Logan also included 271 digs, 50 blocks and 21 service aces.

She notched 12 double-doubles with 10 of the 12 coming against conference opponents. Logan made her season debut against Evansville on Sept. 15. A true team player, Logan helped the team at the libero position and ended the contest with 16 digs. She moved back to outside hitter the following day to post 17 kills and 14 digs in the 3-2 win over Duquesne.

Top performances during the 2017 season also included a 19-kill, 18-dig match vs. Georgetown, a 13-kill, 18-dig, six block match at Creighton and a 21-dig performance at home vs. Villanova.
