Eric Dick has been selected as a first-team All-American by United Soccer Coaches, as announced by the association Thursday, Dec. 7.
Dick is the second first-team All-American in program history, joining Ben Sippola (2010). Only five other Bulldogs have ever earned a spot on the second- or third-team All-American lists by United Soccer Coaches (formerly known as the NSCAA).
"I am absolutely thrilled that Eric has been selected to the NCAA Division I All-American First Team," said Butler coach
Paul Snape. "Eric possesses incredible talent and athleticism, but what is more impressive is his fierce work ethic, dedication and commitment to the team. For the last 4.5 years, Eric has given his absolute best on a daily basis. He always puts his teammates' welfare above his own. He has left a legacy that will have a great impact on our program for years to come! I sincerely believe that Eric can improve his game on several levels and become one of the best GKs in US professional soccer. The entire Butler Men's Soccer Program is so proud of him as a player and for what he stands for as a person...Go Dawgs!
The 6-5 goalkeeper led the Bulldogs to a 14-5-2 overall record, a BIG EAST regular season championship, and an appearance in the NCAA Third Round. That postseason run matched the best finish in program history.
Dick was previously named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year while also earning All-BIG EAST first team honors. He had a BIG EAST-best nine shutouts on the season, posting a 0.97 goals against average and .820 save percentage. Dick's nine shutouts this season are the most in a single season, while his 28 career clean sheets are also a Butler best.
