The Bulldogs will continue indoor competition at two different meets Friday. Butler will send representatives to the Hoosier Open and the Winter Break Invitational, hosted by Indiana and the University of Indianapolis, respectively.
"We will have representation at two meets on Friday. It will be a great opportunity for all our competing athletes prior to heading into finals," Coach
Matt Roe said.
"Our group headed to Indiana will be particularly strong. We have a crew of returning All-BIG EAST athletes mixed with a handful of key newcomers set to compete in Bloomington."
The Hoosier Open will be the much-anticipated Butler debut for graduate transfer
Daniel Garcia. Daniel was a four-time NAIA national champion for Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee and will run the mile.
Angelina Ellis and
Kelly Mindak also debut for the Bulldogs at the Hoosier Open. Ellis and Mindak were state prep finalists in the 800-meters in Indiana and Illinois, respectively. They will both run the 1000-meters.
Allie Vogeler looks to continue a successful indoor season. In her first competition this year, the junior won the 600-meters with a time of 1:36.45 at the Mastodon Opener. She will run both the 400-meter and 500-meter dash at the Hoosier Open.
All-BIG EAST performers in cross country this fall,
Matt Lumbar and
Evan Johnson, will run the 3000-meters. All-BIG EAST jumper,
Sam Robinson, will take on the long jump.
