INDIANAPOLIS—The Butler volleyball team is ready to hit the court again. The team announced their spring schedule where they will be hosting three of their four games at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
The Bulldogs will begin their spring season on March 18 when they take on Dayton at the Frericks Center starting at 2 P.M. The Flyers rocked the 2016 season with a 30-2 record under head coach Tim Horsmon. The Flyers went 11-0 on the road last season and 14-1 at home. They were also undefeated against A-10 opponents.
Butler's second spring game will take place at home on March 24 when the Bulldogs host Purdue at 7 P.M. The Boilermaker's finished their 2016 season at 19-14 overall and were ranked 36th nationally in hitting percentage. Last season, outside hitter Danielle Cuttino and middle blocker Faye Adelaja were named All-Northeast Region selections as well as earning All-American honors for their efforts. Head coach Dave Shondell is heading into his 14th season as head coach after leading the Boilermakers to 10 NCAA Tournaments and seven Sweet 16 appearances.
Butler will then host IUPUI at home on April 7 beginning at 7 P.M. The Jaguars finished their 2016 season 12-20 and finished their 2015 season 21-10. Head coach Steve Payne will be heading into his 21st season with the Jaguars.
The Bulldogs will close out their season with a doubleheader at home on April 13. The team will host Indiana State at 6 P.M. followed by Ball State at 7:30 P.M. Indiana State finished their 2016 season 10-20 while Ball State finished their 2016 season 13-18. Both teams fell to Butler during the 2016 campaign.
The Bulldogs ended their 2016 fall season with a 20-14 overall record winning 11 at home and seven on the road.
Anna Logan led Butler and the BIG EAST Conference last season with 659.5 points and 578 kills. Logan was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association Honorable Mention All-American Team.
