The Bulldogs fell 16-11 to St. Mary's on Sunday afternoon. The setback drops the team's record to 0-4 while St. Mary's registers their first win of the season and are now 1-3.
Haley Hallenbeck carried the team with five goals and one assist. Hallenbeck registered three of her five goals in the opening 30 minutes.
The visitors struck first with a goal at the 25:49 mark before
Madison Christian scored her fifth goal of the season four minutes later to even the score 1-1.
St. Mary's found the back of the net twice over a minute apart in the first half. Butler narrowed the deficit down to one with an unassisted goal from Hallenbeck. The home team tied the score 3-3 with Hallenbeck's second goal, assisted by
Journey Fischbeck.
Fischbeck led the team with four assists and scored a goal of her own to put the Bulldogs on top, 4-3 while Hallenbeck and
Taylor Lores added one each. Butler entered the second half down 8-6, but held a 10-5 draw control advantage.
After St. Mary's scored two,
Ashley Lizzi recorded a goal off a free position shot. Christian and Hallenbeck would go on to score two each. The home team tied the score 10-10 at the 20:41 mark, but would fall after St. Mary's tallied six goals.
The Bulldogs will travel to Georgia to face Mercer on March 3.
