Butler's
Erik Peterson completed an impressive weekend at the 2017 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships by taking 13
th in the men's 3,000 meters Saturday.
Peterson finished sixth in Friday's 5,000 meters. The two results will earn Peterson All-American honors. With the two recognitions, Peterson now has five in his Butler career, with his final outdoor season remaining.
The senior crossed the line with a time of 8:16.46. Oregon's Edward Cheserek won the race in a time of 7:55.91. Cheserek beat Syracuse's Justyn Knight by .30 seconds. Cheserek also won yesterday's 5,000 meters.
Peterson's sixth-place finish in the 5,000 meters Friday matched the best Butler finish at the NCAA Indoors in program history.
Due to Peterson's performance, Butler will finish 49th in the team standings, which is the best team performance in Butler's NCAA Indoors history. The previous high was 51st by the 2007 squad.
Butler opens the outdoor portion of its schedule next weekend, hosting the Stan Lyons Invitational.
