Box Score
INDIANAPOLIS – The Bulldogs posted six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to help secure a 7-3 victory over Lewis on Wednesday afternoon. The win improves Butler overall record to 13-7.
Lewis took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning after a monster shot from lead-off man Jermaine Terry. Terry took
Sam Hubbe deep to left field for the two-run bomb.
BU would erase that deficit and take a four-run lead in the sixth in part to a
Cole Malloy double down the left field line. The inning would start with a pitching change and the decision would hurt the Flyers. Popp walked the first two batters he faced and then
Gehrig Parker laid down a perfect bunt to load the bases.
Michael DiViesti walked to send home a run and after a pop fly to short,
Alex Horowitz would walk which tied the game.
Zach Jarosz would take over second base duties in the bottom of the sixth and draw a walk to give BU the 3-2 lead.
The top of the order would follow with Malloy recording his extra base hit to blow the game open. The final run of the sixth came from
Tyler Houston who grounded out to short to score Jarosz.
The two teams would swap runs in the seventh to end the game at 7-3. Tunison doubled to left center for Lewis while Parker came up with an RBI single to left after a lead-off double from Hartnagel.
BU used a majority of the staff on the mound Wednesday afternoon.
Sam Hubbe got the start, but the win would fall to
Josh Walker.
Chris Myjak would come in with two on and just one out. He would eliminate any chance of a comeback to earn the save.
Butler will return to action this weekend with a three-game road series at Ohio. Game one is slated for Friday night at 6 PM.
