Box Score
MACON, Ga. – Butler scored two goals in the first half and two more in the second, but were ultimately defeated 19-4 by the Mercer Bears on Sunday afternoon. The setback moved BU to 0-5 on the year.

Ashley Lizzi scored two of Butler's foul goals on the day. She was joined by teammates Journey Fischbeck and Rachel Kegler.

Fischbeck scored the first goal of the game for Butler, stopping a streak of five-straight scores from Mercer. Her seventh goal of the season came off an assist from Emily Annand.

Lizzi's first goal of the game went down as Butler's second goal of the contest. She connected on a free position shot to make the score 7-2.

The two teams went into halftime with Mercer leading 12-2. Lizzi would score an unassisted goal in the final stages of the second half and a final free position shot from Kegler would round out the scoring for BU.

Mercer was led by Kate Leone who had five goals and two assists against the Bulldogs. The balanced Bears scoring attack also featured three other student-athletes posting three goals each.

Draw controls were fairly even at 14-10 in favor of the home team. Ground balls and turnovers would hurt the Bulldogs which led to the lopsided outcome.

BU will return to action on Wednesday with a 5 PM match at Gardner-Webb.
