Butler's track and field team sent 12 athletes to represent the university at the elite Mt. SAC Relays and Bryan Clay Invitational, hosted by El Camino College and Asuza Pacific, respectively, in California. A larger portion of the Butler roster participated in the Ball State Challenge Saturday in Indiana.

Jonathan Collier and
Matt Lumbar collected lifetime bests in their respective sections of the men's 5,000 meter run while
Olivia Pratt earned a spot on Butler's all-time list in the 1,500 meters.
The Bulldogs kicked off Thursday at the Clay Invitational with freshman
Clare McCabe in the women's 5,000 meters. On the men's side,
Matt Lumbar followed with a lifetime best in the 5,000 meters, crossing the line at 14:42.36 for sixth place in his heat.
Butler ran four women in the 1,500, highlighted by
Olivia Pratt's time of 4:27.97, good for a listing on Butler's all-time Top 10. Josephine Threstrup finished in 4:33.46. Teammates
Colleen Weatherford and
Kristen Johnson crossed the line at 4:46.37 and 4:47.66, respectively.
Bobby Johnson started Butler off at the Mt. SAC event on Thursday in the men's open 10,000 meters run while Maddie Westerhoff competed in the elite section of the women's 10,000.
The Bulldogs continued their strong showing at Mt. SAC on Friday beginning with
Allie Vogeler's second-place performance in her section of the women's 400 meter hurdles, clocking a time of 1:01.93.
Makepeace finished fourth in the first section of the men's 5,000 meters, collecting a lifetime best of 14:03.88. Collier completed his own lifetime best at 14:24.14 in the second section of the 5,000.
Back closer to home, the Bulldogs posted several impressive performances at the Ball State Challenge in Muncie, Ind. The best result came from
Sam Robinson in the long jump, as he had a wind-aided mark of 7.40m. Robinson's leap was good for third in the event.
In the dual meet scoring, Butler defeated both IUPUI's men's and women's teams. On the women's side, Ball State, IPFW, Eastern Michigan , Western Michigan, and Toledo all participated in the team competition. The men had fewer teams, but individuals representing universities were plentiful.
Malik Mahmud placed fourth in the men's 800 meters, with a time of 1:58.77.
Michael Carey was fifth in the 1,500 meters (4:02.17).
Wade Walder and
Cory Carter posted fifth-place finishes in the 110 meter hurdles and 400 meter hurdles, respectively.Â
