Butler finished eighth in the 13-team Earl Yestingsmeier Memorial Invitational, hosted by Ball State. The 54-hole event concluded Saturday.
The match was played at the Delaware Country Club in Muncie, Ind. The event was slightly unique in that each team was comprised of six players, with five scores counting each round.
The course played 6,438 yards with a par of 70. The tournament is named in honor of the longtime Ball State coach, who passed away in 2014 at the age of 80.
The Bulldogs carded a 54-hole team score of 1,113, which was 63-over par. Butler moved from tenth following the first round to stay in eighth after both the second and final rounds.
Freshman
Patrick Allgeier was the top finisher for the Bulldogs. He finished at 212 for the 54 holes, which was just two over par. His second-round score of even-par 70 was joined by two 71s. Allgeier finished in a tie for sixth.
Joey Arcuri finished in tie for 26
th at 222(75-75-72--+12), and was followed by

Eastern Kentucky won the event, posting a three-round team score of 1,076 (+26). The Colonels led after each round, and were aided by a Ball State player's disqualification Sunday after signing an incorrect scorecard. Ball State finished second, followed by Cleveland State.
Ball State's Michael VanDeventer and Taylor's Alec Dutkowski tied for the individual honors at 208 (-2).
This was Butler's final tune-up prior to the BIG EAST Championships April 30-May 2 at Callawassie Island, S.C.
