Bertino defeated Creighton's Claire Embree, 6-2, 6-3.

Creighton jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the match by taking the doubles point. The Bluejays won on the second and third courts to clinch the doubles point. Butler's top team of
Bailey Padgett and
Rachel Sutton was tied at 6-6 against Creighton's No. 1 duo when the doubles point was clinched.

Creighton then went on to capture three singles matches in straight sets to clinch the match, 4-1.

The Bulldogs will now move to the consolation portion of the bracket to face Providence Friday at 4 p.m. The Friars, who entered the championships as the No. 10 seed, lost a Thursday first round match to seventh-seeded Villanova.
