INDIANAPOLIS – Butler's inaugural season came to a close on Saturday afternoon with a 22-5 setback to Villanova. The Bulldogs conclude the 2017 regular season with a 1-16 overall record.
 
The Wildcats jumped out to a 16-2 halftime lead at Varsity Field on Saturday to take control of the action. The final 30 minutes of play would even out with the Wildcats holding a 6-3 edge.
 
The opening five minutes was back and forth with Butler hanging around 3-2. Haley Hallenbeck scored the first BU goal of the game of an assist from Ashley Lizzi. BU's final goal of the opening half would be credited to Sydney Pattison.
 
Second half scores from Butler would be provided by Journey Fischbeck and Hallenbeck. Fischbeck reached 20 goals on the season by connecting on a free position attempt and Hallenbeck would round out her 2017 campaign with 26 goals scored.
