The Bulldogs saw their seven-match winning streak end with a tight 4-3 loss to DePaul Friday afternoon at Butler's Outdoor Courts in Indianapolis.
Butler is now 13-4 on the season and 1-1 in BIG EAST play. The result mirrors the score from the 2016 meeting of the two teams. DePaul is now 12-9 on the season.
DePaul captured the doubles point before Butler responded with a trio of singles win to take a 3-1 lead.
Mason Dragos and
Spencer Lang won straight-set decisions at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively, while Lope Adelakun needed three sets to take his match at the No. 6 spot.
As the final three singles courts played deep into third sets, DePaul was able to take decisions at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5 to seal the win.
Butler returns to action Sunday, hosting Marquette at 2 p.m. Butler has also added an April 16 match, hosting Iowa at 6 p.m. That match will serve as Senior Day. The Bulldogs continue to prepare for the BIG EAST Championships in South Carolina later this month.
