@ButlerUBaseball Records Sunday Win at Seton Hall

Box Score

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Bulldogs posted a 4-1 victory over Seton Hall on Sunday afternoon to win the weekend series at Owen T Carroll Field 2-1. The win moves Butler to 21-9 overall.

Gehrig Parker went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored to lead BU to victory. The Bulldogs also got a lift from Harrison Freed and Connor Dall. Freed went 1-for-2 from the dish with a team-high two RBI. Dall was the hit leader in the lineup with three.

Butler used Connor Mitchell and Garrett Christman on the mound to defeat SHU. Mitchell earned the win by tossing five full innings. He limited Seton Hall to just three hits and one earned run. Christman would take over in the sixth and throw the final four innings of action. He earned his first save of the year by striking out three and only allowing two hits.

Scoring for Butler would open up in the second inning. Parker led off with a double to left and moved to the corner after a ground out from Jordan Lucio. Freed's first RBI of the game would be a sac fly to right that allowed Parker to tag up and give BU the 1-0 advantage.

Butler would increase their lead in the fourth to 3-0. Michael Hartnagel and Parker recorded back-to-back singles to lead off the inning. Lucio would lay down a sac bunt to move each base runner and a wild pitch would allow Hartnagel to score. Déjà vu would strike next as Freed flied out for the sac fly that scored Parker.

Seton Hall broke up the shutout with a single run in the sixth, but Butler would follow up with a run of their own in the seventh. A pair of singles would once again open up the inning with Lucio and Freed getting on base. Dall would come up with a one-out RBI single to center that scored Lucio.

Butler will take this momentum into Tuesday's midweek game at Fort Wayne. BIG EAST action returns on Thursday, April 13 when Butler plays host to St. John's at Bulldog Park.
