Butler dropped its opening-round NCAA Tournament match Friday afternoon, falling 4-0 to the No. 3 overall seed Ohio State. The match was played in Columbus, Ohio.
The Bulldogs finish the 2017 season with a record of 18-6, advancing to the program's first NCAA Tournament since 2007.
Ohio State took the doubles point by capturing matches on the second and third courts to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
The Buckeyes then won three straight-set singles matches to clinch the victory. Ohio State, now 30-3 on the season, will advance to play Louisville in the second round.
Friday's match was the final team contest of the season for the Bulldogs.

Mason Dragos has been selected to participate in the doubles competition as part of the 2017 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championships later this month. This is believed to be the first Butler singles or doubles selection to the championships.
The NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Subcommittee selected 64 singles players and 32 doubles teams to compete in the 2017 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championships May 24-29 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Georgia, hosted by the University of Georgia. The tournament will begin after the conclusion of the team championships which run from May 18-23.
