@ButlerWSoccer Adds Goalkeeper to 2017 Roster

INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler women's soccer program will add goalkeeper Leonie Doege to the 2017 roster, an announcement made by Co-Head Coaches Tari St. John and Rob Alman on Monday, May 22. Doege attended Landrat-Lucas Gymnasium last year, a high school located in Langenfeld, Germany.

"We are thrilled to have Leonie joining our program," Co-Head Coach Rob Alman stated. "She possesses an incredible work rate and dedication to her craft, and she has been involved at the highest levels of the game in Europe over the last few years."

Doege currently plays for Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.

"Being the starting keeper for one of the world's powerhouse national teams and playing in multiple major tournaments around the world has provided Leonie with a huge amount of valuable, big game experience," Alman added.

Doege has played for the German National Team at the U16, U17 and U19 levels. She earned six caps with the U16 team and a further 13 caps with the U17's. As the starting GK she helped her team win the U17 European Championship in 2016 and also made it to the quarterfinals of the U17 World Cup later that same season.

She most recently competed in her first game for the U19 team in La Manga, Spain playing against Scotland.

"We are excited to begin working with Leonie as she continues to develop her game," Alman said. We also look forward to welcoming her into the fantastic environment our goalkeeper unit has created and has enjoyed in recent years."
