In the final tune-ups prior to the 2017 BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Butler sent one student-athlete to California, while a larger portion of the roster traveled to Terre Haute, Ind.

Against arguably the fastest 5,000-meter field in the world this season, senior Erik Peterson posted a time of 13:57.57 in placing 15th at Stanford's Payton Jordan Invitational. The race featured seven Olympians in the field.

When Friday's Billy Hayes Invitational at Indiana University was cancelled due to the amount of rain that had hit central Indiana in recent days, Indiana State stepped in to host at their facility.

The Bulldogs sent a smaller contingent due to graduation ceremonies in Indianapolis and several student-athletes staying behind to train for the BIG EAST Championships. The best result of the day belonged to freshman Josephine Thestrup, who won the women's 1,500 meters, crossing the line in 4:33.91.

The Bulldogs will travel to Philadelphia, Pa., for the BIG EAST Championships Friday and Saturday.
