INDIANAPOLIS – The 2017 regular season might be over for the Butler baseball program, but that doesn't mean the student-athletes are done playing. 15 Bulldogs will travel all over the country to continue playing over the next two months. The 15 players are split up between nine different summer leagues ranging from California to Vermont.
New England Collegiate League
The largest representation of Bulldogs in one league will feature
Michael Hartnagel,
Ryan Pepiot,
Jack Pilcher and
Connor Christman playing in the New England Collegiate League. Hartnagel will play for the Vermont Mountaineers, while Pepiot, Pilcher and Christman will all team up as members of the Keene Swamp Bats.
The New England Collegiate Baseball League was founded in 1993. The season gets underway on June 6 and features an eight week, 42-game schedule. Playoffs will determine a champion. The postseason begins in early August.

California Collegiate League
Cole Malloy and
Josh Walker will be teammates this summer in the California Collegiate League. The duo will represent Butler as members of the Arroyo Seco Saints. The California Collegiate League was founded in 1993 and is associated with the National Baseball Congress. They host a 39-game season that is complete with an all-star game. The first game of the season was played on June 1, however the first game for the Arroyo Seco Saints is slated for June 7.

Cal Ripken Collegiate League
Zach Jarosz and
Harrison Freed will look to build off great freshman campaigns by playing in the Cal Ripken Collegiate League this summer. The duo will pair up to represent BU on the DC Grays. The Cal Ripken Collegiate League is comprised of ten teams in the Baltimore-Washington region. The regular season features a 40-game schedule which is promptly followed by the top six teams reaching post-season play. The first game for the DC Grays is schedule for June 6.

Perfect Game Collegiate League
Sam Russo and
Kevin Napoleon are yet another Bulldog duo to team up over the summer. Russo and Napoleon will play in the Perfect Game Collegiate League for the Saugerties Stallions. Founded in 2010, the Perfect Game Collegiate League runs from June to July and features a 50-game schedule. Opening day for the Saugerties Stallions is Sunday, June 4.

Sunbelt Collegiate League
Luke Johnson will travel south to compete in the Sunbelt Collegiate League as a member of the Brookhaven Bucks. Their season gets underway on June 2. All home games are played at Oglethorpe University in Brookhaven which is located just north of Atlanta.

Prospect League
Quentin Miller will stay close to home this summer by playing in the Prospect League. The right-handed pitcher will throw for the Kokomo Jackrabbits. The 2017 schedule in the Prospect League features 60 games and includes a postseason. The season got underway on May 30.

Northwoods League
Garrett Christman will spend his summer in Wisconsin playing for the LaCrosse Loggers of the Northwoods League. The first game of the year for the Loggers is scheduled for June 3. Heading into their 24th season, the Northwoods League now features 20 teams and has a strong list of alumni players that include Max Scherzer, Ben Zobrist and Chris Sale.

Brock Balderson will represent Butler in the Great Lakes League this summer by playing for the Galion Graders. The season gets underway on June 5, but the Graders first game isn't until June 9.
