Euan Makepeace got his first NCAA Championships experience Friday night, competing against the nation's best in the 5,000 meters at Eugene, Ore.
The race begin very technical and then Makepeace got tripped with approximately 900 meters remaining. He went to the ground and climbed back into the race, but the lead pack had moved ahead at that point.
Makepeace finished 24
th in 15:04.42. Stanford's Grant Fisher used a late charge to win the event (14:35.60). Jack Bruce of Arkansas and Syracuse's Justyn Knight finished second and third, respectively.

Erik Peterson finished third in the 10,000 meters in Eugene Wednesday night. The event also ends the 2016-17 season for all Butler Athletics teams.
