2017 Schedule
INDIANAPOLIS – The Bulldogs will host 15 games inside Hinkle Fieldhouse this year, including a large five-team tournament over the opening weekend of the regular season. BU will compete in four total tournaments before the start of BIG EAST competition, which this year is slated for Wednesday, Sept. 20 at home against Marquette.
Fans will have the chance to see Butler's season opener this year as they host Stony Brook, Oakland, Robert Morris and Eastern Michigan over opening weekend, playing two games each day on Aug. 25-26. Butler's first game will be played against Stony Brook on Friday. Opening serve is slated for 2 PM.
The second weekend of the regular season will send Butler to Michigan with the Bulldogs and Wolverines coming together on Friday night. The premier match of the invitational will get underway at 7:30 PM. BU will face Green Bay and New Hampshire the following day.
Kent State will be hosting the action during week three with Butler battling the Golden Flashes and the College of Charleston on Sept. 8-9. The final tune-up before conference play will feature Butler playing Evansville, Duquesne and Ball State. The Cardinals will host on Sept. 15, but Hinkle will hold the action on Sept. 16.
The Bulldogs will shift gears on Sept. 20 when they host the Marquette Golden Eagles in the conference home opener. Their first road test will come just three days later at Xavier. The 2017 schedule has Butler on the road for six of their next nine games. That obviously will flip at the midway point giving BU five-straight home games heading into the month of November. The regular season will end on Saturday, Nov. 17 with Butler playing at St. John's.
The 2017 BIG EAST Championship Tournament will be hosted by Marquette this year. Semifinal games will be played on Nov. 24 with the championship match set for Saturday, Nov. 25. BEDN will stream each semifinal match while the finals will move to FS2. The top four teams in the BIG EAST standings will make up the field with the tournament winner earning an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
