After playing a large role in Butler posting a 2-0 week, sophomore
Brandon Guhl has been named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference Monday, Sept. 18

Butler's week included a come-from-behind overtime win over Creighton in Saturday's BIG EAST opener. Guhl erased a 2-0 Creighton lead with two goals in the final 15 minutes of regulation. That gave the talented sophomore transfer six goals in the team's seven matches this season. Guhl's six goals lead the BIG EAST and are fourth nationally.

In Tuesday's win over Evansville, Guhl assisted on
Joel Harvey's game-winner in the 1-0 win.

Guhl was also recognized as part of the College Soccer News's Team of the Week, as announced Monday.

Guhl is the fourth Bulldog to earn BIG EAST weekly honors in the first four weeks of the season, joining
Jared Timmer and
Lewis Suddick as Offensive Players of the Week, and
Eric Dick as Goalkeeper of the Week.

Butler is 5-2 on the season, and is ranked No. 22 in the College Soccer News national poll. The new United Soccer Coaches poll is expected to be announced Tuesday.

The Bulldogs have a week off before continuing BIG EAST play Saturday (Sept. 23) at Providence. The Friars were the preseason pick to win the BIG EAST by the league's head coaches. The 7 p.m. match is slated to air on the BIG EAST Digital Network as part of the Fox Sports Go app.
