INDIANAPOLIS -- The Butler women's soccer team won their seventh-straight game on Thursday night with a 10-0 shutout over Chicago State. The victory gives them an overall record of 7-1-1. BU has now reached seven non-conference wins in four of the last five seasons.
The Bulldog offense exploded tonight with goals from seven different players. Two impact players were
Halle Stelbasky and
Caitlyn DiSarcina who each had two goals.
Gabrielle Lemkuil,
Julia Leonard,
Taylor Reid,
Carly Goehring,
Julia Calvert, and
Maeve Burger rounded out the scoring. 10 goals in a single match is just one shy of the school record, and the most by any BIG EAST team since 2007 when Villanova defeated Saint Peters 11-0.
Paige Monaghan and
Taylor Crowe were also an important part of the Bulldogs offense, each assisting on two goals.
The scoring frenzy began in the third minute of play with an assist from Monaghan and a finish by Stelbasky. The Bulldogs capped off their scoring streak in the 78th minute with an unassisted goal by
Maeve Burger.
The Bulldogs outshot the Cougars 38-3 and had a total of eight corner kicks compared to the Cougars' zero. Defensively, the Bulldogs were also sound.
Hannah Luedtke and
Leonie Doege combined for the shutout. Butler hasn't allowed a single goal during their seven-match winning streak.
