PK80 Invitational Announces Tip Times and Television Assignments

PK80 Motion Bracket (PDF - includes TV and Tip Times)

Organizers of PK80 presented by State Farm have announced the start times and television assignments for the blockbuster event in November. Butler's game against Texas on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 23) will tip at 7 p.m. (Eastern, 4 p.m. Pacific) and air on ESPN2. That opening game will be played at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Ore.

The event, which includes two brackets, runs Thursday, Nov. 23 through Sunday, Nov. 26. Games in the "Motion" bracket (which includes Butler) will be televised on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU. Games across the two brackets will be played simultaneously in the Moda Center and Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Ore., with the crowning of two champions.

Depending on the result against Texas, Butler's Friday, Nov. 24 game will be played at either Noon (Pacific) on ESPNU or at 2:30 p.m. (Pacific) on ESPN. Either game would be played at the Moda Center. Friday's opponent would either be Duke or Portland State.

The "Motion" bracket features Butler, Duke, Florida, Gonzaga, Ohio State, Portland State, Stanford and Texas.

One of the largest regular-season multi-team events in college basketball history, PK80 sports a field featuring some of the top schools in the nation.
  • The field boasts 24 National Champions, including 10 of the past 14 winners
  • Participants include three 2017 NCAA Final Four teams (National Champion North Carolina, Runner-up Gonzaga, and Oregon)
  • Also, earning berths in the 2017 NCAA Tournament were Arkansas, Butler, Duke, Florida and Michigan State, in addition to field participants UConn, DePaul, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Portland, Portland State, Stanford and Texas

The PK80 brackets are named as a tribute to Phil Knight and the iconic sports brand he created.
  • "Victory": In Greek mythology, Nike was considered the goddess of Victory
  • "Motion": The swoosh logo is not only meant to represent motion, but to also resemble the wings of the goddess Nike

Butler and Texas have met only once previously, a 56-48 win by the Bulldogs in the first round of the 2015 NCAA Tournament.

PK80 Butler session tickets are available for purchase through Butler Athletics at https://oss.ticketmaster.com/aps/butler/EN/buy/details/17PK80.

Butler all-session tickets include a ticket for each of the three sessions that the Butler will play in. Sessions in the Phil Knight Invitational are two games each. Tickets are $210 each.

After leading Butler to conference championships and NCAA Tournament appearances as both a player and assistant coach, LaVall Jordan returns to his alma mater as the program's 24th head coach. He inherits a talented roster that finished the 2016-17 season with a 25-9 record, advancing to the sixth Sweet 16 in program history. The Bulldogs earned their highest NCAA Tournament seed in program history on the heels of a second-place finish in the BIG EAST standings. Leading scorer and All-BIG EAST selection Kelan Martin returns alongside starters Tyler Wideman and Kamar Baldwin. That trio will join an experienced group of returners and a highly-touted recruiting class.
