The Bulldogs opened the spring season Saturday afternoon in West Lafayette, Ind., taking on the Purdue Boilermakers. Purdue came away with a 7-0 decision.
 
Nina Bertino pushed her match at No. 5 singles to a third-set match tiebreaker. Purdue's Zala Dovnik claimed the first set, 6-3, before Bertino won the second set by the same score. Dovnik came away with a 10-5 win in the match tiebreaker.
 
Purdue defeated Cincinnati, 5-2, earlier in the day Saturday. The Bearcats are Butler's opponent Sunday. The match is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. and will be played at the West Indy Racquet Club (4458 Guion Rd.).
