Butler opened the 2018 portion of its indoor track and field schedule Saturday, traveling to Champaign, Ill., to participate in the Illinois Open.
Sophomore
Josephine Thestrup and freshman
Kelly Mindak went 2-3 in the women's 800-meter run. Thestrup posted a time of 2:15.84, just off the winning time of 2:14.46 by Rebecca Craddock. Mindak ran a time of 2:16.13 in finishing third.
The best men's performance for the Bulldogs came in the mile run.
Evan Johnson finished second in a time of 4:13.12, three seconds ahead of teammate
Bobby Johnson, who finished third.
Senior Graham (1:22.93) finished fifth in the 600-meter run, the same spot that
Matt Lumbar claimed in the 3,000-meter field.
Jake Kellersohn (200-meter dash) and
Kyle Harris (800 meters) both placed eighth.
The women's competition included 11 teams; nine men's teams were at the meet.
The Bulldogs return to action next weekend as a portion of the roster will travel to Bloomington, Ind., for the Gladstein Invitational on the Indiana University campus. A majority of the Bulldogs will participate in the Fort Wayne Duals.
