@ButlerMBB's Kelan Martin Earns BIG EAST Weekly Honor

For the third time this season, Kelan Martin has earned BIG EAST Player of the Week honors. The conference office announced the recognition Monday morning (Jan. 15).

Martin set a career-high with 37 points in Butler's win over Marquette Friday night. The senior was incredibly efficient, needing just 17 shots (making 12) to post the 37 points. He made all nine of his free throw attempts, and added a game-high seven rebounds and three assists. His 37 points were the most by a Butler player since 1998.

Earlier in the week, Martin posted his fifth double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds at Creighton.

Martin leads the BIG EAST in scoring at 25 points per game in conference play.

Martin averages a team-best 20.2 points and 6.8 rebounds for the 13-6 Bulldogs. He now has 12 20-point games on the season.

This is Martin's seventh career BIG EAST weekly honor after earning the recognition twice as a junior and twice as a sophomore.

Martin and the Bulldogs are in action later today at Providence. The game begins at 4:30 p.m., and will be televised nationally on FS1.
