The Bulldogs opened the spring schedule Thursday afternoon at Louisville, falling 4-0 to the host Cardinals. The match was played at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center and also served as the first match of the spring for Louisville.
 
Butler's No. 3 doubles duo of Spencer Lang and freshman Michael Dickson won, 6-3, but Louisville was able to take the doubles point.
 
In singles play, Louisville took courts 2, 3, and 4 to secure the 4-0 victory.
 
At the No. 1 singles spot, Mason Dragos and Louisville's Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff split the opening two sets and were not able to finish the match once Louisville clinched the team result. Dickson, at the No. 5 singles spot, was also up one set on the Cardinals' Brandon Lancaster when play was halted.
 
The Bulldogs return to action Jan. 27 when the team travels to Kalamazoo, Mich. Butler will face Illinois State on neutral courts before matching up with host Western Michigan the next morning.
