Butler traveled to Bloomington, Ind., Saturday afternoon, playing Western Michigan and host Indiana in a pair of matches. The Bulldogs dropped both results.
In the first match with Western Michigan,
Bailey Padgett and
Nina Bertino pushed their matches to third-set match tiebreakers at the No. 1 and No. 5 spots, respectively. The
Broncos were ultimately able to pull out both of those matches to take a 7-0 decision.
The Bulldogs' match with Indiana was far closer than the 7-0 score indicated.
Rachel Sutton (No. 2),
Emily Neal (No. 3), and Carla O'Bryne (No. 6) each won the first set to push their matches to a third set. Indiana was able to overcome that first set in each of the matches to post individual wins.
In doubles play, Padgett and
Jordan Minnick took Indiana's top team of Madison Appel and Michelle McKamey to a tiebreaker at the No. 1 spot, with the Bulldogs falling 7-6 (3).
The Bulldogs return to action Feb. 3, hosting Valparaiso in Indianapolis.
