9th Annual Butler Invitational Results

INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler women's swim team competed in the 9th Annual Butler Invitational over the weekend along with Saint Louis, Xavier, Youngstown State, Southern Illinois and Valparaiso. BU ended the event with 289 points to finish fifth overall.
Grace Grzybek was a top performer for the Bulldogs. She tied for third place overall in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 58.68. Her result earned the team 15.5 points. Other 'Dawgs to perform well in the 100 Back include
Rachel Schafer who finished 12th with a time of 1:01.94 and
Tori Horton who placed 15th (1:02.10).
Butler's 200 Yard Medley Relay Team finished in fifth place.
Grace Grzybek,
Emma Spotts,
Annah Van Gheem, and
Tori Horton posted 28 points for BU (1:50.38). A second team would enter the 200 Yard Medley Relay. Sofia Camarillo,
Sydney Gurry,
Emma Harris, and
Madison Himler placed 11th (1:56.85).
In other relay action, Butler had two teams finish back-to-back in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay.
Harriet Davies,
Megan Hanson,
Carson Middlebrooks, and
Tori Horton placed seventh (3:46.88).
Grace Grzybek,
Alexis Faith,
Jacque Shrader-Goetz, and
Maddy Wilson were close behind in eighth (3:49.31).
Grzybek was also active in the 50 Yard Freestyle. The sophomore placed 12th overall with a time of 25.78. Horton, Davies and
Madison Himler also scored for BU in the 50 Yard Free. The Bulldog trio finished 14, 15, and 16 to record six total points.
The 1650 Yard Freestyle was highlighted by
Olivia Allen who finished seventh with a time of 18:13.56. Another Bulldog to post a seventh place finish included
Alexis Faith who swam 2:12.60 in the 200 Yard Butterfly. Faith also swam well in the 100 Yard Butterfly. She placed 12th with a time of 1:01.38.
Faith and Allen were each in the pool during the 200 IM. Faith finished ninth with a time of 2:17.27 and Allen landed in 10th at 2:17.56.
Megan Hanson notched a pair of top-ten finishes for BU in the invitational. She came in at eighth in the 200 Yard Backstroke (2:12.40) to earn 11 points. Her ninth place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle (1:59.39) brought in another nine points for Butler.
The top three performers for Butler in the 100 Yard Breaststroke included
Natalie Rohweder,
Myranda Valeiras and
Carson Middlebrook. Rohweder placed ninth (1:09.77) while Valeiras and Middlebrook came in back-to-back at 11th and 12th. Valeiras touched the wall at 1:09.98. Middlebrook posted a time of 1:10.33.
Sydney Gurry,
Carson Middlebrook and
Olivia Allen all posted similar times for Butler in the 200 Yard Breaststroke. Gurry was the top finisher in 10th place with a time of 2:32.87. Middlebrook was right behind her in 11th (2:33.71) and Allen rounded out the group with a 12th place finish (2:34.15).
Butler had three more swimmers finish in a pack in the 500 Yard Freestyle.
Emma Harris,
Carolyn McGrail and
Rachel Burke all scored by finishing 12, 13, 14. Harris touched the wall at 5:29.33, followed by McGrail at 5:35.31. Burke finished the race in 5:36.99.
