Butler defeated Illinois State, 5-2, Saturday afternoon in Kalamazoo, Mich. The result levels the Bulldogs' season record at 1-1. After losing the doubles point, the Bulldogs responded to take five singles matches for the final margin.

Michael Dickson, and
Ari Gerstein were the first three Bulldogs to win singles matches at the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 singles spots, respectively. At the No. 5 position,
Adrian Mag then clinched the match with the Bulldogs' fourth straight-set win.
Mason Dragos would also win at No. 2 singles, taking his match against the Redbirds' Igor Kolaric in three sets.
To begin the match, Illinois State claimed doubles wins at No. 1 and No. 2 to secure the doubles point. Dickson and Lang won their match at No. 3 doubles by a score of 6-1.
