Butler dropped a 5-2 decision at Western Michigan Sunday morning, capping a 1-1 weekend in Kalamazoo, Mich.
The host Broncos (5-1) picked up the doubles point by taking matches at No. 2 and No. 3.
Aviv Ben Shabat and
Ari Gerstein won, 6-4, at the top doubles spot, taking down Nick Schnobel and Maik Steiner.
WMU took a 2-0 lead in the match by capturing the No. 6 singles spot in straight sets.
Butler's
Adrian Mag then put Butler on the board with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles.
Mason Dragos leveled the match at 2-2 with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-0 win over Jannik Opitz at No. 2 singles. Dragos was the first of the remaining four matches to go to three sets.
WMU would take the final three matches in three sets for the 5-2 margin.
With the result, Butler is now 1-2 on the spring season.
The Bulldogs return to action Friday (Feb. 2), traveling to Dayton for a 6 p.m. first serve.
