Butler polished off a 3-0 weekend homestand with a 5-2 win over Valparaiso. It was the fourth straight win for the Bulldogs, who are now 5-2 on the season.
Spencer Lang and
Michael Dickson each had a 2-0 Saturday by taking their singles matches in straight sets on the No. 3 and No. 4 courts, respectively. The duo teamed up for a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
That doubles win and then a 7-6 (4) win by
Aviv Ben Shabat and
Mason Dragos at No. 1 doubles gave the Bulldogs the doubles point.
In addition to Lang and Dickson's singles wins, Butler also got wins from Ben Shabat on the second court and
Ari Gerstein at No. 6 singles.
All six singles matches were settled in straight sets, but
Adrian Mag and Gabriel Carvajal played a first-set tiebreaker than ended 16-14 in favor of Carvajal, who also took the second set.
The Bulldogs return to action Friday with a 3 p.m. match at Cleveland State. Butler will play Bucknell on Saturday in Cleveland.
